TEST RIDE - NEWLY LAUNCHED APRILLIA CAPONORD 1200

The new Caponord 1200 is an adventure- tourer bike. NAZA Premira Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor for Aprilia bikes in Malaysia, launched the latest edition of its most versatile bike yet – the 2013 Aprilia Caponord 1200 ABS, at Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre yesterday (5th October 2013). The launch of this latest addition brings the total number of models available here to 9 models including the RS4, Shiver, Dursoduro 750 and 1200, Mana, Tuono V4 and RSV4 R.

Taking its name from the past ETV 1000 Caponord, the new Caponord 1200 ABS is powered by a 1,197 cc V-twin engine that produces 125 hp at 8,250 rpm and 114.7 Nm at 6,800 rpm. The bike is fitted with a host of electronic systems such as Ride-by-Wire throttle control, which comes with three modes – Touring, Sport and Rain.

Other electronic systems include ABS, Aprilia Traction Control (ATC), Aprilia Dynamic Damping (ADD) and Aprilia Cruise Control (ACC). The traction control, which comes in three settings is integrated with the ABS but can be disengaged independently. On the other hand, ADD combines the principles of the ‘sky hook’ system to handle low frequency loads and ‘acceleration-driven’ damping to manage high frequency loads.

The new 2013 Aprilia Caponord 1200 ABS is priced at RM93,888 OTR. However, Naza Premira is offering the new bike for only RM83,888 for the first 50 customers.
